Taxation with dying representation

I read with interest the concerns over "not taxing" the bonus money awarded to TARP CEO's because it would set a precedent of recuperative specific taxation - hasn't that already been done with the tobacco tax? A tax on a select few to gain funds that are not represent in those profiting from the tax.

Will any of this money be set aside to support the layed of tobacco workers, farmers, distributers?

Love this web page - http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/ writing can be cathartic.

Extra drugs - big bucks

I'm on another bender - Pop was at the hospital yesterday and picked up his prescriptions when he came away from the window he mentioned that he had gotten four types of pills when he was expecting to only pick up two. I looked in the bag and found the pharmacy had automatically refilled two old prescriptions. I tried to return them and that was when I found out the state of Washington laws will not allow any returns after the patient leaves the window. Even if it was only to turn around and then turn back. I went online to see what I could do with these pills and found that there is very little to be done. Thirty seven states have instituted some laws to allow for medication reuse, most of them dealing with cancer drugs and almost consistently across the board only from hospitals in patients and hospice facilities. Billions of dollars worth of drugs going to waste.

Some of the pills I'm talking about are -

Tilmisartan/Micardis 40mg 80 pills sealed (approx $29.00)
(high blood pressure)
Metoprolol 50mg 135 pills (approx $65.00)
(high blood pressure)
Hydrochlorothlazide 12.5mg 90 pills sealed (approx $34.00)
12.5mg 55 pills (approx $20.00)
25mg 90 pills (approx $24.00)
(water pill)
Zocor 40mg 65 pills (approx $247.00)
(high cholesterol)

Just seems a shame to throw them out, but can't find anywhere to donate them. Can you believe the Zocor costs, no wonder they all hop around on measuring cholesterol.

There was a note on one of the sites that I have not verified yet - that the water processing plants do not remove drug waste from gray water before it is released back to the earth. Guess we'll never have a problem with high cholesterol oceans or rivers.

Read in a book the other day about a palace where they change the wall hangings two seasons in advance to ward of some of the funk that comes with winter cold, spring rain, summer heat, and fall's knowing that winter is coming. Seems like a good idea to me. Winter has the warmth of summer displayed, Spring has the golden dry colors of fall to chase away the rains damp, Summer has the snow scenes to shiver in front of while eating melting ice cream and finally as the last leaves float down during fall the young greens of spring can be wistfully stared at knowing the new season is just around the corner. It's like playing chess with moods always two moves ahead.

New boycott - MacDonald's - as if the calories to taste were not enough. They (i.e. their insurance company) is not willing to pay for the medical bills of an employee who went to the rescue of a patron who was being assaulted by her boyfriend. The old just don't get involved act does not fly for me, if I can stop an act of violence I do my best. They say helping her was not in his job description so I ask do they also have a line in the job description that says "don't help any customer unless they are handing over money for one of our products." Hero's beware acting in MacDonald's is at your own risk.
